    "FOREHAND & WADSWORTH”
Forehand & Wadsworth Company History
Forehand & Wadsworth was an American firearms manufacturer based in Worcester, Massachusetts, active from 1871 to 1890. The company was founded by Sullivan Forehand and Henry C. Wadsworth after their earlier partnership in the firm of Allen & Wheelock. Forehand & Wadsworth became well known for producing affordable, reliable revolvers during the late 19th century, particularly pocket-sized defensive arms.
Among their most popular models was the Bulldog-pattern double-action revolver, produced in several calibers including .32 S&W. These compact solid-frame revolvers were designed for civilian self-defense and were influenced by contemporary British “Bulldog” revolvers. Production of the Bulldog Double Action models was especially strong in the early 1880s, placing a revolver with serial number 90052 around 1883.
After Wadsworth’s death in 1884, the company continued under the name Forehand Arms Company, which remained active until it was purchased by Hopkins & Allen in 1902. Despite their modest cost, Forehand & Wadsworth revolvers earned a reputation for solid construction and are now collected as representative examples of American 19th-century pocket arms.

Condition: 2 ½” barrel with a very nice shiny bore and strong rifling. Finish retains about 90% of the original nickel and looks very impressive. Just a tiny bit of pin-prick pitting on the front left side of the receiver.  Black checkered hard rubber grips are in excellent condition. Marking are legible. This is a early model that was produced without the Bulldog logo on the right side of the receiver .The bulldog was included on later versions. Mechanically works in double action only. Needs a sear spring to hold the hammer back in single action. Other than that functions great in double action with good timing and lockup.   This is an all original complete model with matching numbers .
Price: $525.  Reasonable offers considered.

Owning a well-preserved example, such as the one described, provides a glimpse into the craftsmanship and innovation of the late 19th century firearms industry.   Overall, this F&W bulldog revolver is an excellent example of a rare and historically significant firearm from the late 19th century.
