Completely original and extra fine finishes are very noticeable on this revolver. From the varnish on the grips to the case coloring to the blue to the excellent bore, to solid lockup and mechanics. By the configuration, it seems very likely that this revolver was owned and modified by famed shooter Walter Winans as it is equipped with his distinctive Winans patent front sight blade and rear sight groove neatly opened up to accommodate the more generous front. The butt has also been fitted with a large lanyard ring. This revolver comes cased in an interesting English motor-style leather case with initials “W.W” on the front of the case further suggesting ownership by Walter Winans, and Colt retailer sticker on the inside of the lid, the revolver resting vertically in the case. Walter Winans was an accomplished shooter and sculptor who won shooting medals in both the 1908 and 1912 Olympics. serial #140859, Price: $13,500.00 Antique: Yes |
