Description:
Springfield Model 1861 Civil War Musket 58 cal Bore VG, Mech Exc tight crisp action, Wood VG with Exc cartouche on the left side and original US dated buttplate. Has an original 40” barrel with original sights, barrel bands, sling swivels, ramrod and also has a date on the top of the barrel ahead of the tang 3 digits visible. The lockplate is excellent with the US Springfield , Eagle marking and 1861 date at the rear of the plate. Metal overall has a brown patina finish with some fine to light pitting in the nipple area. Has an excellent nipple.
