Description:
Postwar Luftwaffe soldier's souvenir dagger, a postwartime-issue Luftwaffe 2nd Model dagger made by B&A, which was not a wartime manufacturer. They were assembled from 1946-47 using many genuine surplus war-time made parts, with the scabbard and blade made post-war in order to complete the daggers. Blade is marked ‘Solingen 1939' with the maker's name, pommel nut, crossguard, and ring apparently of wartime manufacture, while the scabbard, blade, grip, and wire were made after the war. With the leather scabbard which typically accompanied these pieces. These daggers were created largely to satisfy the needs of souvenir-hungry G.I.s searching for a relic to bring back to the folks back home. Very good to fine.
