Description:
This is a very nice example of a British contract US WWII Colt Commando revolver. This is the standard issue model with a 4" barrel and a rounded fixed blade front sight. The rear sight is a square notch in the topstrap. The left side of the barrel is marked "COLT COMMANDO / .38 SPECIAL", the top is marked "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. / PAT'D AUG.5.1884. JULY 4.1905. OCT.5.1926.". The left-front of the trigger guard is marked "VP" in triangle, the left-rear with upside-down "A". The top-rear of the frame on the left is marked "GHD" with a flaming bomb ordnance mark. The crane and crane cut are each marked with the serial number, "32273" and the crane cut is also marked "H and L". It has the broad arrow and "M" stamp under the left grip panel on the frame with an "A" stamp at the corner of the butt. The grips are two-piece checkered Coltwood with molded Colt medallions and smooth borders. Other features are a Parkerized (Parco-Lubrite) military finish, SA/ DA trigger, checkered hammer, a smooth cylinder release latch. This gun is in very good surplus condition with some minor finish wear. .38 S&W Special
