Description:
At .54 cal, with an 8 1/2” round barrel with a moderately oxidized bore. This pistol was converted using the Belgian method,and has the conversion of the Confederacy as the lock-plate marking about removed and the hammer was shaped and bent over from anothewr weapon with shallow dents from heating, and bending, and not U,S. Armory type workmanship duting that time.. And the metal surfaces mostly pewter gunmetal patina with areas of salr & pepper pitting near the breech from extended usage. The hammer appears to be from a Maynard system firearm and the swiveling ramrod assembly parts are later replacements. Markings have mostly been removed, with lockplate showing legible but faint, “US” And the brass pan toned to goldenrod. The smooth walnut stock rates about very good with some old cracks and thin shallow chips behind lockplate and near lock screw with old added finish and scattered dings. The left flat and the lock seems to be functional , and the nipple is clogged will try to replace it soon.
