Brief Company History:
The Manhattan Arms Company was a significant player in the firearms industry during the mid-19th century. Founded in 1856, it was based in Newark, New Jersey. Condition: Nice bore with a light oxidation and minor pitting from black powder use. The iron frame , cylinder and barrel have worn to a pewter gun-metal gray patina with oxidation stains and light pin-prick pitting. Revolver has factory engraving on the breach end of the flats. Brass circular side plate in very good condition. The smooth walnut grips are in good condition retaining most of the original varnish showing some light handling marks with solid fit to frame and are numbered to the gun. The barrel markings are clear and legible. The barrel and cylinder are serial numbered to the gun. German silver front sight blade remains intact. The barrel to frame fit has just a slight bit of play. . The action is functional with very strong hammer spring, good timing and lock-up.
