Bore is very good with strong rifling, indicative of a well-preserved service rifle. This Model 1917 was arsenal-refurbished for WWII use, as evidenced by the “J.A./Flaming Bomb" barrel marking—signifying a WWII-era replacement barrel produced by Johnson Automatics. The stock shows a later application of linseed oil, with a faint WWII cartouche still visible, adding to its post-WWI service history. Metal surfaces show expected wear from arsenal handling but remain solid and presentable. Action is smooth and functions correctly. A fine example of a Winchester-built M1917 that saw continued service into the Second World War. Price: $1,495.00 Curio/Relic: Yes |
