This Piotti Monte Carlo represents the pinnacle of Italian best-gun craftsmanship—an exquisite Holland & Holland–pattern sidelock built during one of F.lli Piotti’s finest eras. Completed in 1985 and preserved in excellent overall condition, this 12-gauge exemplifies the refined mechanics, balance, and artistry that have made Piotti one of the world’s most respected bespoke gunmakers. At 6 lb 10.3 oz, it carries with the lively, effortless handling expected of a true game gun, while the 28" barrels and IC/MOD constrictions provide ideal versatility for upland shooting. The articulated front trigger, crisp trigger pulls, powerful ejectors, and tight lockup all reflect the mechanical excellence for which Piotti is renowned.
The coin-finished sidelock action displays near 100% Royal-pattern scroll engraving, masterfully executed and signed by A. Piotti, whose engraving is widely admired for its depth, symmetry, and fluidity. Complementing the action is a superb exhibition-grade straight-grip walnut stock and finely checkered splinter forend, both showing only the faintest handling marks. The blued barrels retain nearly all of their original finish, completing a presentation of exceptional quality and elegance.
Adding to its desirability, this Monte Carlo is housed in its original green canvas case with leather corners, crafted by the respected English casemaker Brady. The case features a maroon interior, the Piotti maker’s trade label, and an additional trade label in the upper-left corner from Armeria E. Casciano, the Holland & Holland agent based in Rome. The case also includes its original accessories, making this a fully complete and highly collectible set.
