And the top strap is engraved BRITISH BULL DOG not stamped. The style such as top hump in back of grip and internal trigger sear show main Belgian features. And when these were made in the Victorian era ,England was the biggest buyer of Belgian gun parts and Beglum the bigest buyer of English gun parts.I would estimate this piece was me in the late 1870s' through the 1880s'.By the 1880s' on,the fluted cylinder became more popular. The mechanics of this bulldog are decent for its age,not sloppy nor super tight. If one had the skill to remove the spring from the cylinder rod to tweak,or make a slight thicker spring,it would tighen up the cylinder rotation. The bore has all the rifling and some light pitting. The chambers are not bad and cleanig will improve.Checkered grips are nice and fit well.Screw heads are also nice. The cylinder has lots of bluing and scatterd blue with mostly brown patinia elsewhere.I sell my antique guns for display and collecting use.If intending to use,one must have a gunsmith check for safety and correct cartridge.
