Description:
For sale we have a very early production Winchester 1st Model 1873 lever action rifle in .44-40. This rifle is in very good condition for the vintage with trapdoor crescent steel buttplate, straight grip walnut stock and forend, set trigger, and 24" octagon barrel. The gun has the early raised thumbprint dust cover and hand engraved 4-digit serial number. Bore is very good for an 1874 manufactured gun with very strong rifling. Trace amounts of original bluing are showing in protected areas, revarnished stock is in excellent condition. Sights are aGerman silver front blade with rear semi-buckhorn sight and period peep sight on upper tang. Gun is mechanically excellent. Included is a Cody Letter with a specific order number for this rifle in its current configuration, received and shipped on September 16, 1874. Antique, no FFL required.
