Description:
Springfield M1 Garand British Lend Lease chambered in .30-06 Springfield with a 24" barrel. This example has markings under the op rod on the right side of the barrel "CROWN / BNP, .30/06", "2,49", 18 TONS PER [], with British proofs", and "S / S-A-2-42". The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture sight set between two protective wings with the adjustment drums marked ("BATTLE RANGE" windage and "LEFT/LEFT" elevation with closed arrows and lock bar). The front sight blade set between two protective wings with the right front sight wing. The bolt is marked "D28287-12SA / RE5B", trigger group "D28290-5-SA", milled trigger bow is marked "Y", safety "C460015-6SA", hammer "C864008-2 SA", and the op rod "D35382 3 SA". The gas cylinder is a narrow base marked "7" with a beveled edge gas lock and an unmarked cross-slot gas cylinder lock screw. The left side of the stock is marked "S.A./GHS" and crossed cannon's cartouche. The face of the grip is marked with a "circled P" proof. The smooth hardwood stock has a pistol grip, metal nose caps, a stacking loop, two sling loops, and a metal buttplate with hinged door for storage. The forearm is smooth two-piece hardwood. The of the receiver is stamped "US RIFLE - CAL .30M1 - SPRINGFIELD ARMORY - 543053". The right side of the receiver is marked "REP25A / D 28291-17. The sling is marked "W.T. & B. CO / 1918 / R.E.W". This rifle is missing the painted red band on the forend. .30-06 Springfield
