Winchester 3rd model 1873 rifle, .44-40. Serial #279487B, 1888 manufacture. Desirable octagon barrel, bore is fine+, razor crisp rifling, near excellent bore. Very sharp, barrel address. Top of barrel at breech stamped "44 W.C.F.", brass block stamped "44 CAL.". Metal edges are crisp, overall is a pleasing an age mottled grey patina, with brown mixing in, .15% overall original blue in protected places. Mechanics are very good+. Original sights. Wood is very good, excellent wood to metal fit, slight age handling wear, no chips or cracks. Correct crescent-style buttplate with compartment, original dust cover. .100% correct and original '73 Winchester rifle in desirable .44-40 with no issues, fine overall.
