Description: Offered here is an original U.S. Model 1842 Naval Percussion Pistol, manufactured by Robert Johnson of Middletown, Connecticut and dated 1841 on the lockplate. This is one of the classic early-19th-century U.S. martial pistols, built in limited numbers for naval service prior to and during the early Civil War era. This example remains fully intact and mechanically complete, retaining its original one-piece walnut stock, brass furniture, and the correct long swivel ramrod. The lockplate markings “U.S. / JOHNSON / MIDDn CONN / 1841” are clear and legible. Barrel shows matching U.S. inspector stampings. Metal surfaces exhibit an even, untouched patina appropriate for the period, and the wood shows only typical handling marks with no structural cracks or repairs. A solid and honest example of an early U.S. percussion naval pistol — increasingly harder to find in complete condition. Caliber: .54 smoothbore Action: Percussion Manufacturer: Robert Johnson, Middletown, CT Year: 1841 Condition: Good, original, complete Price: $649.00 |
