These beautiful rifles were made by Dave Higginbotham from 1992 until his tragic accidental death in December of 2011. Made in limited numbers on a custom basis, the quality of these rifles is superb in every way. This example has extra fancy walnut, pistol grip, checkering on the pistol grip and forend, bone charcoal color case hardening on the receiver and forend cap. It also has double set triggers with the adjustment screw intact. The 30” medium heavy polished blue barrel is contoured to meet the octagon receiver top and is not cut for a rear sight dovetail. Barrel top is marked "Lone Stare Rifle Co. Inc., Conroe, Texas, U.S.A." Shotgun butt plate is of the traditional hard rubber style embossed with the same style fancy script encircled monogram “LSR” (Lone Star Rifle). No doubt from the orignal owner is a simmilar encircled monogram that may be "FAS" (?). A quick note about factory monograms or inscriptions: Initials, monograms etc. are often found on these rifles (Shiloh Sharps “Quigley Models” come standard with personalized initials). A number of years ago these rifles were not particularly desirable because of these engravings. However, as time has gone on, these markings represent the history of the rifle and a connection to the original owner. Pre-War Winchester and Colt firearms with similar factory markings actually enhance the value of the guns. In time, the same will be true of these more recently produced firearms. Keep this in mind: when the movie Quigley Down Under came out in 1990, many people wanted a Shiloh Sharps rifle like the movie gun. If a buyer was 48 years old (and could afford the stiff price) when he ordered his gun in 1990, he’d now be almost 84 years old! In the future there will be a number of rifles with personalized monograms on them which may even add to their value. Anyway, back to this rifle, it is fitted with a Montana Vintage Arms (MVA) -range vernier tang sight adjustable for windage and elevation and a MVA #111 globe front sight that will accept inserts. Target crowned muzzle. Weighs approx. 11 lbs. Overall, in about like new condition inside and out. These rarely come up for sale. $4950.
