The Para-Ordnance P14-45 is a high-capacity, double-stack evolution of the classic M1911 design, developed in Canada in the 1980s and produced from the 1990s onward. Designed by Ted Szabo, it retains the traditional short-recoil operation and .45 ACP chambering of the original 1911 while expanding capacity to a 14-round detachable magazine—one of the highest capacities available in a .45 ACP pistol of its era. With its 5-inch barrel, steel frame, and single-action trigger, the P14-45 became popular among competitive shooters and defensive users seeking 1911 ergonomics with modern firepower. Over time, Para-Ordnance introduced numerous variants, including stainless models and tactical configurations, solidifying the P14-45 as the company’s flagship double-stack 1911 and a notable milestone in the evolution of high-capacity .45-caliber pistols.
