Description:
Rare 5" barrel Antique Forehand Arms Company top break .32 S&W large frame double action revolver. These revolvers were made from 1887-1900. This is a Double Action top break auto ejecting Revolver. 6 Shot in .32 S&W Long. These were made for Black powder cartridges.
Condition: 5” raised rib round barrel with a very lightly oxidized bore with scattered light pitting from black powder use and still showing good rifling. The nickel plate metal surfaces show some light scratches , freckling, and wear marks probably from storage and some very minor oxidation stains. Overall in very good condition for it’s age. Original hard rubber factory grips feature a molded in floral design around the escutcheons and the Forehand & Wadsworth banner on the top. The grips are in excellent condition. Very nice looking revolver but please judge from the photos. All the appropriate parts are correctly numbered to the gun. Cylinder timing and lock up appear to be good . Mechanically the action works good in single and double action.

This revolver was made before the acquisition by Hopkins and Allen company who had a factory fire in 1900 and bought out the Forehand Arms Co. This acquisition gave H&A a much improved product line. The new machinery dramatically improved the line and enabled them to produce a low priced good quality product able to compete with Iver Johnson and H&R. This gun is a very good example of an antique Forehand model.
