This is the No. 1 Deringer manufactured in Brooklyn, NY by the Moore's Patent Firearms Company marked on the barrel "MOORE'S PAT F. A. Co. BROOKLYN, N.Y." having patent date on the underside "PAT FEB 24, 1863". Operated by a release button the right side of the frame that allowed the barrel to rotate. This attractive all metal Deringer has a tight lock up without any barrel wobble and shows beautiful scroll engraving on the brass frame and iron barrel which has arrow motifs on both sides. In very good to near fine condition the brass has a pleasing aged patina with perhaps 10-15% of the original silver finish remaining in protected areas of the grip underside with the barrel a pewter-gray showing pitting along the left side. Mechanically it functions properly with a strong hammer spring. A great Civil War / Wild West era Deringer that will display well. Antique Price: $1,195.00 Antique: Yes |
