You are looking at a great condition, Winchester Model 42 (extremely rare 28”, 2 ½” chamber) Solid Matt Rib Skeet Grade Model 42, Mfg. 1952. 2 ½” chambered Model 42’s are extremely rare and highly sought after by Winchester Model 42 collectors.  Shotgun has an excellent bore.  Some shooters would punch out the 2 ½” chamber to make them 3”.  This Model 42 is still factory original 2 ½”. According to Schwing’s book on Model 42’s, the 2 ½” chambered Model 42’s were not a very big seller; maybe the reason they are seldom seen and highly sought after by collectors today. This extremely rare and nice Model 42 has the correct positioned Winchester proof marks. Stock set and blue on this model 42 are in nice condition.  It has some wear and handling marks, but it is extremely nice, exceptional checkering.  I would rate it at 97-98% condition.
