This is a good looking rifle that has had the "US PROPERTY" marking removed and a Royal Ordnance Factory Maltby "F T/M R" FTR marking on the left front portion of the receiver. The rifle was renumbered by ROF Maltby, but the original serial number is partially legible under the new number, and the bolt seems to match. The metal retains about 70-75% of a mixed blue and applied Suncorite finish, with the balance faded or flaked to a dark pewter gray patina. There is some further brown freckling on the bolt handle and cocking piece. The matching numbered buttstock has an arsenal refinish to fine shape with only minor handling marks and surface blemishes scattered about, while the forend and handguards have moderate marks and bruises throughout. The rifle comes with an unmarked magazine, and is fitted with a khaki canvas sling. This is a good-very good Savage No. 4 overall, that was arsenal repaired and refurbished.
