Description: General Specs: Parker, 1930, 16 Gauge, 6lbs. 14oz., Chokes IM/F, LOP 14 1/4", DAH 2 11/16", DAC 1 11/16" Serial Number: 235450 Vintage Firearms is fortunate to have some phenomenal gunsmiths that are committed to bringing tired guns back to life, restoring them where necessary, and leaving well enough alone where they ought to. This Parker is wonderful example of their deft hand and judgement. Parker is the most recognized, most desired of all the major makers from the heyday of the American side by side. Parker made about 250,000 guns, the vast majority were 12ga. guns in lower grades. American gunners today realize the fine shooting qualities these guns possess, as they were all hand assembled and tuned by the best gunmakers in the country. Of course, they made far fewer Parkers in 16ga. and fewer yet in the higher grades that were beautifully adorned with figured European walnut and finely executed engraving entirely done the old school way…by hand! This gun is 1 of 56 made in this configuration with Acme Steel barrels. This Parker was ready to be brought back to its original glory. Engraved with Grade 4 CHE game scenes and scroll, the original case color has held in just the right places. You’ll note, if you’ve already looked at the photos, that the blue of the case color has held strong in the sky behind the pheasant on the bottom of the receiver and behind the pointer on the left side of the frame. The case color has held in other areas where you don’t expect a lot of wear; overall 70% remains, faded in some areas. The engraving is still very sharp with the hooks from the engravers cuts readily evident on the action. The barrels were properly prepped and slow rust blued to beautiful deep hue. The bores are mirror like and chambered for 2 1/2″ shells- Vintage Firearms can lengthen the chambers if the new owner so desires, please call to discuss. The highly figured crotch-flame walnut stock and forend have had their checkering touched up where needed, and a proper hand-rubbed oil finish applied to a beautiful luster. The period appropriate Hawkins recoil pad still has plenty of life to live. VFI CERTIFIED GUN HAVING THE ACTION AND FOREND IRON STRIPPED, ULTRASONIC CLEANED, ALL PARTS SCRUBBED CLEAN, INSPECTED FOR FUNCTION AND INTEGRITY, LUBRICATED, AND REASSEMBLED, NOW CARRYING A 90-DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY. I’m confident the craftsmen at Parker who built this fine firearm would appreciate the care and attention our gifted gunsmiths have put into getting this gun ready for its next 95 years of going afield in search of upland game and out to the club for clays. This gun is worthy of a place in any showcase, but it would also be a shame if it wasn’t brought out and put to good use on game birds from time to time.
