The Smith & Wesson Model 36-7 is a specific engineering change (dash number) of the classic Model 36 "Chief's Special" revolver, chambered in .38 Special, and was produced in a nickel-plated finish option. This model is known for its compact J-frame design and solid steel construction. Overview and Specifications The Model 36-7 is a variation within the long-running Model 36 series, first introduced in 1950. The specific dash numbers (like -7) denote engineering changes over the years. These revolvers are popular for concealed carry due to their small size and reliability. Caliber: .38 S&W Special (some later variants are rated for +P ammo). Capacity: 5-round swing-out cylinder. Action: Traditional double-action/single-action (DA/SA). Frame: J-frame, all carbon steel construction, which helps manage recoil compared to lighter "Airweight" models. Finish: Nickel plating was a standard finish option alongside the blued finish throughout the Model 36's history. Barrel Length: Typically 1.875 or 2 inches, though 3-inch versions were also produced. Sights: Fixed sights, with a front blade and a trough-style rear notch integral to the frame. Grips: Typically came with checkered wood service-style grips. .38 S&W Special Price: $1,249.99 Barrels: 1.875 inches Weight: 1.2 lbs Item Location: Avon, OH |
