This is a very handsome rifle that retains 85-90% of the original blue on the barrel, with some gray fading at the muzzle and slong the edges of the barrel facets. The frame retains a commensurate amount of the original nickel-plated finish with two small areas of flaked pitting: one on the right side just ahead of the wrist; and on the lower edge of the left side. The hammer and factory rear Vernier sight retain much of the original bright, nitre bluing with the balance turned to a freckled plum-brown patina. The walnut buttstock is in fine shape with only some minor handling marks scattered about the original varnish, and about 80-85% of the original nickel remains on the hooked buttplate, which has a dull ochre patina on the underlying brass where it’s been exposed by light wear. The rifle is equipped with a Stevens No. 141 scope that is 30 1/4" in length and has clear optics with an intact crosshair reticle. The action lock-up is rock-solid with no lateral play in the barrel. .32 Long CF will seat and extract properly in the chamber (which is made for a short, straight case cartridge), This is a splendid example of a large frame Stevens tip-up single-shot rifle, and would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
