Description:
Hollis & Son (London) double rifle. Serial 15132 (matching) has 27-inch barrels (blade front sight with stippled ramp, sling loop, filed rib with one fixed and two folding leafs marked 100/200/300, ejectors). Features include an automatic safety, game scene engraving, scalloped cheek rest with shadow line, steel grip cap and a checkered steel butt plate with widow's peak. CALIBER: Unknown. Barrel flats are marked “380”. Consignor used with .38 Long Colt ammunition (fires properly without case expansion or primer issues but bullet is undersized for the bore and almost certainly tumbles). Bore was cast by professional gunsmith and measures .374-inch. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 6.6 pounds and the length-of-pull is 14.25 inches. CONDITION: Refinished. The bores have light frosting and occasional pitting. Rifling appears mildly softened. Mechanics operate properly. Barrel finish is approximately 70 percent with softened markings. Receiver colors have silvered. Receiver engraving is sharp. Guard/tang finish is approximately 60 percent with softened engraving over the guard. Butt stock is cracked at the wrist and partially repaired with some of the crack appearing to be live. MEDALLION NOTES: A description of the medallion markings taken from the Westley Richards for a similar rifle with different rack number is imaged. The price is firm. $3,000 plus shipping.
