Description:
Henry Nock was a well known and influential inventor and gunmaker through the late 18th century, having had a number of military contracts from the end of the American revolution through the Napoleonic wars. His notable work ranged from the production of volley guns, both long arms and pistols, to the supply of more ordinary military muskets and quite notably his patented breech for hunting guns, which helped to make the double barreled shotgun the preferred hunting arm. Quite a bit more recently Nock's work has been brought back to the public eye, as one of his volley guns could be seen in the hands of Sgt. Harper throughout the Series "Sharpe". This particular pistol from Henry Nock is an over / under flintlock pistol of an unknown caliber, with an interesting mechanism allowing either only the top barrel to fire, or with the turn of a switch to fire the both as a volley. Overall condition is good to very good, with much of the original finish fading to a dark brown, but no concerning signs of corrosion. there are some small dings present on the outsides of the barrels and it would appear that the No# 1 Barrel has been installed on the bottom, making it somewhat jammed on the threads. Mechanical condition of the lock is excellent, with good function.
