1841 Missippi-Colt Conversion Bayonet
Description:
1841 Mississippi Rifle-Colt Conversion Bayonet In 1861 Samual Colt purchased 10,000 1841 rifles and added saber bayonets. The rifle barrels, split rings, and bayonets were marked with a serial number. A split metal ring clamped on the barrel to provide a bayonet lug for this saber bayonet. The bayonet blade is just over 25 1/4". This blade is marked 1861. On the top of the grip is the serial number 2764 and 260 on the side of hilt. The blade is in an above average condition with no nicks or pitting. The leather scabbard is full-length and has a brass button on the throat.
