Description: For collectors of early American sporting arms, this Ithaca double barrel is a genuine throwback to the golden age of bird guns. Featuring beautiful twist-pattern Damascus barrels and crisp engraving from the Ithaca Gun Company of New York, this side-by-side brings both charm and a century of history to the rack. Dual triggers, a break-action frame, and period checkering wrap this into a true gentleman's field gun—when shotguns weren't stamped but sculpted. Though it wears its age with pride—boasting a naturally developed patina—it's a beautiful, functional example of the era's craftsmanship. The swirling Damascus steel barrels are a visual feast, and the old-school engraving makes this Ithaca a standout among vintage scatterguns. Whether you're a hunter, a history buff, or a side-by-side connoisseur, this piece belongs in a collection that respects what it represents: 100+ years of enduring American shotgun tradition. To clarify on a few details, the water table of the receiver has "1 ½" stamped into which means this shotgun is a grade 1 ½. This grade received extra factory engraving around the edges of the receiver and chamber end of the barrels. This addition accents the factory hunting dog and field engraving found on both sides of the receiver. A less important, but still interesting marking on the barrels is "HRF" for Heuse-Riga Fils. This company was in the Vesdre Valley of Belgium and manufactured the Damascus tubes that Ithaca made their barrels from. The barrels also have a "nitro powder proved" marking indicating the barrels can withstand the higher pressure rounds of the time. That being said, this Ithaca is in good shape all things considered. The barrels and case hardened receiver have developed a natural patina giving them a distinct character that only father time can create. The wood forend and stock both retain their checkering, however the texture has worn down over the years giving it a comfortable worn-in feel. The pistol grip cap is still intact. The stock has chipped at a common location right behind the top of the receiver, but it has been glued back in place. 12 Gauge Price: $1,499.99 Metal Condition: good Wood Condition: good Bore Condition: bright Barrels: 28" Damascus barrels with extractor Triggers: double triggers Stock Dimensions: 13.75" LOP Fore End: checkered wood Butt Pad: plastic Weight: 7 lbs.
