Description:
*** CONSIGNMENT ITEM, ALL PRICES OFFERED MUST BE APPROVED BY CONSIGNOR - LISTING ANOTHER PORTION OF A LOCAL COLLECTOR'S COLLECTION ***

Marlin Model 20 pump action 22 caliber rifle, handles .22 short, long and long rifle cartridges. 1st variation with "No. 20" upper tang marking and latch type mag tube release. Features a 22.5" octagon barrel, take down frame, 1/2 magazine, blued finish, plain walnut stocks, plain trigger, "S" type steel butt plate, Model 20 rear sight, ivory bead front sight, receiver and upper tang factory drilled and tapped for several types of peep sights, external hammer; model was designed by the famous L. L. Hepburn. Serial number matches in upper inletting of butt stock and on left side of upper tang (typical for this model, these are the only locations of the serial number, no external/visible number was put on). Overall length 38 3/4" and only manufactured from 1907 to 1911 so a fairly scarce model.

CONDITION: Barrel 75% deep original bright blue. Bolt 65% same. Mag tube 65% but more plum than blue. Receiver 40% patina mixed with plum. Butt plate grayish-blue. Most metal surfaces have surface crud and spotty pitting from wet/poor storage, especially the butt plate; butt stock shows water staining damage and has been lightly cleaned by the butt plate so butt plate is proud. Remainder of the butt stock, as well as the fore arm, retains most of the original color and varnish, and are free of splits and cracks, just normal wear. Action works as it should including the half cock safety. Mag tube releases freely and locks in tightly. Front sight missing most of the ivory bead. Rear sight fully intact and functioning. Bore is good with fairly high rifling, needs a further scrubbing to remove old powder residue, certainly will spin a bullet fine, rated at a 7 of 10. Overall will turn into a much better piece with some elbow grease and TLC.

TERMS: Must ship to FFL dealer or C&R licensee. New York State buyers must have the item ship to an FFL dealer only, no C&R. 3 day non-firing inspection. Buyer pays return shipping. Payment by personal check, bank check, or USPS money order only, sorry no credit cards, no electronic payments. Have a competent gunsmith give it a clean bill of health before using as it has not been test-fired. Packed with great care to survive the trip. Ships by FedEx Ground, with prices on the rise, shipping will be $50 Northeast, $75 rest of continental US..
