About Us: I have collected interesting firearms for about 60 years, and am a Benefactor/Life NRA member. I feel that it is now time to start selling a few things. All firearms transactions will be handled by a local Gun shop and will follow all firearms laws. All firearms purchased will be shipped by them to your F.F.L. I do my best to price my items fairly. If you think that my price is out of line, please make an offer. I don't have much room for negotiation, but I will work with you if I can. I do not have many items to sell. Please keep checking my items and I will try to add regularly to my listings. I hope to find good homes for these items that are special to me. Please read descriptions and terms, I will endeavor to be accurate.

Description:
Used Browning Auto-5, 16 Gauge Shotgun, 2 9/16" Chamber with Browning Conversion to 2 3/4" chamber, Made in Belguim in 1939. I really like this old Auto-5 Sixteen Gauge with its old world craftsmanship. It has seen some use, but still performs perfectly. For an 86 year old, it is amazing. Many decades ago, the original owner sent it back to Browning to have it converted fron the 2 9/16" chamber to the new 2 3/4" chamber so that he could shoot both sizes of ammunition. This involved installing a collar on the barrel and opening up the ejection port slightly. This modification is shown clearly in the photographs. I have shot this Auto-5 with both sizes and have noticed no problems at all.
The bluing is the old style rust bluing that was used by F.N. before the factory was taken over in WW II. There is some thinning of the blue and there are surface scratches but no major dings. The barrel sports a solid rib that is checkered and has borders, the post-war Brownings had no borders. The wood has several small scratches in the finish that are visible in the photos. If I was younger, and was going to keep this one, I would probably have the wood redone. There are no major chips or dings, and the checkering is intact. There are a couple of small cracks in the forend that are shown in the photos. They have been there a long time. The original owner installed a "Whippett" recoil pad that has held up remarkably well. It remains flexible and does a great job of softening recoil. The length of pull was not shortened and measures 14.25 inches.
I wish I could hear all the stories that this one has to tell. Its very existence is proof of a bygone era when pheasant hunting was not only a sport, but meant survival for those who lived, worked and hunted in the fields and along the ditchbanks out in the country. My Grandpa shot a Winchester model 97, My Uncle shot a Sixteen Auto-5. My Uncle was faster.
Please look over the photos closely and contact me with questions. Thanks for looking!

Return Policy Guidelines of GunsInternational  Unless the buyer and seller agree to modify, as may be the case in a new gun, layaway, international sales and for used guns and accessories it must be clearly marked in the listing as No Return, the return policy is three (3) calendar days from the day the item(s) are received by the buyer or delivered to the FFL acting for the buyer.   The item may be returned for any reason, but the buyer must notify the seller within the three (3) calendar day inspection period.  The buyer must start the return within the next four (4) calendar days to receive a complete refund, less all shipping, transaction fees and FFL charges.  On a return the buyer must not remove the firearm from the FFL premises without approval of the seller.  Once the firearm has been received by the seller and inspected a prompt refund will be issued.  Shipping must start within one week of receipt of the item(s).  The return shipping must be of equal shipping level, including insurance i.e... Priority, Express, Blue Label etc.  The return item MUST be in the same condition as when shipped to the buyer.  This is an inspection period only, a gun is not to be fired or disassembled.  Sellers written permission is required to allow the buyer to take down a takedown model during the inspection period. Upon the receipt and inspection of the returned gun, the seller agrees to issue a prompt refund. Recommendation: Confirm purchase with all details via the Contact Seller form within the listing and print out the listing for your records. Industry standard is that if a buyer fails to perform on a layaway that any monies deposited are forfeited.  GunsInternational recommends all layaways are agreed in writing. Any modification of the 3 day return policy must be in writing by both buyer and seller.
