***USED firearm please see photos for detail***
The Colt Commando is a double-action revolver produced by Colt during World War II, primarily between 1942 and 1945. It was developed as a simplified, wartime version of the Colt Official Police revolver, designed to be faster and more economical to manufacture while maintaining reliability. Chambered in .38 Special, the Colt Commando typically features a 4-inch barrel, a six-round cylinder, and a parkerized or dull-blued finish rather than Colt’s prewar high-polish blue. These changes reflected wartime material and labor constraints. The revolver operates in both double-action and single-action modes.
The Commando was issued mainly to U.S. military personnel, guards, and security units, rather than front-line combat troops. Its solid steel frame and straightforward design made it well suited for duty and security roles during the war. Today, the Colt Commando is recognized primarily as a historical firearm, valued by collectors for its connection to WWII and its place in Colt’s wartime production history.
Overall condition very good, nice surviving example.
