Description: *** Sale Pending Keith J *** *** CONSIGNMENT ITEM, ALL PRICES OFFERED MUST BE APPROVED BY CONSIGNOR - LISTING MORE ITEMS OF A LOCAL COLLECTOR'S COLLECTION *** Marlin Model 94 rifle in caliber 44-40 Winchester, with all typical rifle features: 24" octagon barrel, plain walnut stocks, plain trigger, rifle butt with crescent steel butt plate, blued and case hardened finish, sporting rear sight, Rocky Mountain front sight. Serial number D7969 and the Star Marking indicate production in the early 1930s. CONDITION: Receiver has faded case colors, basically the typical nickel-silver; likewise for the lever and butt plate. Loading gate retains 50% dull original blue. Fore end cap 50% plum blue. Original sporting rear sight is 85% original blue. Bolt 95% bright original blue, as is the barrel blue. Mag tube has 70% bright original blue with some loss and mix of plum on the front underside due to wear. Action is crisp with a strong hammer spring and properly working half cock safety. Stocks exhibit expected nicks and dings with some light wear, no major damage or abuse, never cleaned or sanded. Fore arm is a little loose at receiver end. Butt stock swollen out a little at left front by receiver. Mag tube is tight with no wobble. Bore is excellent, a 9.0 of 10, with just minor wear and very light scattered black powder fouling, no rings or bulges, mostly bright and sharp, might clean better, should spin a bullet fine. Flat end of muzzle has some pinprick pitting from storage and/or lack of proper cleaning, not bad and won't affect function but worth noting so there are no surprises. Upper tang correctly drilled and tapped for tang peep sight; receiver top correctly drilled and tapped for the Hepburn receiver peep sight. Serial numbers match where they should. Overall grades NRA Very Good and is a poplular, desirable, late variation to add to your lever action collection. TERMS: Must ship to FFL or C&R license.
