The Hopkins & Allen XL No 6 is a double action revolver that was part of the Series ll collection, This model produced around 1887, as indicated by its serial number.
Condition: 2 ½” .38 S&W Octagon barrel with a good bore showing areas of light oxidation, very minor spot pin-pitting in the grooves with strong rifling. The metal of the revolver still retains most of the original nickel plate finish with the finish fading , some minor scratches, handling marks, and edge wear. The original factory hard rubber grips feature the F&W monogram, shield, and flag with the rosette around the escutcheons are in excellent condition with just minor handling marks. Hopkins & Allen acquired the Forehand Arms Co and incorporated some of the parts into their existing line until the new machinery was used to develope a new updated line of revolvers. The top markings remain crisp and legible.
Mechanically the revolver appears to work very well in single or double action with good timing and lock-up
