Synopsis:

Original Arisaka Type 38 military rifle, made by Nagoya Arsenal for the Japanese military, a classic battle rifle in use from 1905-1945. This example in VG+ condition, externally matched with a mirror bore. Complete with a comparable condition Type 30 bayonet.

Description:

Standard configuration Japanese Nagoya Arsenal Type 38 rifle, 28th bock, cal. 6.5mm, as manufactured from 1905 to 1945. The rifle has a drift adjustable triangular front sight with a battle/ladder type rear sight, the ladder graduated from 4-24. The receiver has intact mum. On the left of the receiver is the block mark (28th block) followed by the full SN: 41039 and the Nagoya Arsenal mark. The bolt assembly and the bayonet lug are matched to the last three numbers. Unmarked cleaning rod and cupped metal buttplate. Complete with hooked quillion Type 30 bayonet marked with a Tokyo/Kokura arsenal stamp, SN: 4007, and blued metal scabbard.

Condition:

VG+ original finish, the metal parts retaining 97% of their original salt blue, the "worn" areas more related to the patchy oxidation, principally on the magazine floorplate and trigger guard, rather than use-related wear. Original finish stock with numerous handling marks, bruises and a few minor losses, the most noticeable on the finger groove, left side of stock, upper portion near sight. Mirror bore. Correct manual mechanics. Bayonet is in the same general condition of the rifle, with a bright blade, the blued surfaces with light oxidative flecking and sharp edge wear, the wood with oil-stained darkening.
