Return fee be paid by buyer Payment Types Accepted: Cashiers Check, Money Order, Certified Check, Personal Check Description: Synopsis: Exceptionally nice, all matching and original, Colt U.S. Army Model 1909 revolver with W.C.P./ R.A.C. inspection markings, mirror bore, correct indexing,and an original 1913 dated holster with thigh strap. A wonderful military rig antedating WWI! Description: Standard configuration Colt Model 1909 SA/DA revolver, cal. .45 Long Colt, manufactured from 1909-1917, largely a military adaptation of the New Service revolver, SN: 47809, with original finish, 5½" barrel, fixed front sight and notch rear sight. Serial number "47809" is marked on the frame, crane, and butt with matching "7809" on the cylinder release. Top of barrel stamped "Colt's PT FA MFG CO HARTFORD CT USA/ PAT'D Aug 5 1884. JUNE 5 1900. July 4 1905." The left side of the barrel bears "COLT D.A. 45". Circular "WCP" (Walter C. Penfield) inspection marking, cutting through the blue, at rear of topstrap, right side of frame. The rear of the cylinder displays "RAC" ordnance inspector mark that is repeated on the right side of the frame, and on the bottom of each of the smooth walnut grips, each internally matched with serial number "47809". Complete with brown leather Rock Island Arsenal military holster dated "1913", issue "B6", original brass fittings, and leg strap. The Model 1909 was adopted by the U.S. Armed Forces to replace the M1892 revolver following complaints about stopping power during the Philippine-American War. Condition: At least 95-96% bright original high polish Colt blue with sharp edge wear and light handling marks, most noticeable on the backstrap. top of hammer and trigger retaining the majority of their original fire blue. Sides of trigger bright with light machine marks and light staining with no suggestion of enhancement. Oil darkened grips with a scattering of superficial handling marks and bruises most noticeable on the right panel. Mirror bore, the recoil shield suggesting little firing as there are no cartridge head imprints. All cylinders index properly on slow single action cocking. VG+ holster with intact stitching, cracking and early crazing in flex areas, the crazing extensive on the leg strap. No attempt was made to put the revolver in the holster, that has likely shrunken over time.
