This is a handsome carbine that was made in 1893 and retains 70-75% of the original bright blue finish on the frame, with the balance faded to freckled gray. The barrel and magazine tube retain about 50-60% of the original blue with a mild plum-brown patina on the remainder, and some of the bright original nitre blue remains on the screw heads as well. The checkered walnut slide is in fine shape with minor handling marks and some mild flattening of the points on either side, while the buttstock likewise has small handling marks and minor surface blemishes scattered about the otherwise fine original oil finish. The action is mechanically excellent, and the carbine rates fine-near excellent condition overall. It is a desirable Lightning in a great "Wild West" chambering.
