Description:
Serial #295, 12 Ga., 28 1/2" barrel with a fair, pitted bore. This is an early production, second series "HARTFORD" marked gun that has an overall plum-brown patina along most of the metal, with dark gray mottling, heaviest along the wrist tangs. Areas of pinprick pitting are present throughout, with some further small impact marks on the receiver and along the exterior of the cylindrical shell carrier cover. The walnut forend and buttstock have numerous handling marks and minor surface blemishes throughout, and the original steel buttplate has some mild pinprick pitting along the edges. The mechanism is fully functional, and the original twist-adjustable choke is still present at the muzzle. These are interesting guns that were an idea before their time. This example is in fair-good condition overall. Antique;
