Description:
Starr Percussion Civil War Carbine 54 cal  Bore near Exc, Mech Exc works well with exc nipple, Wood is original and VG plus shows some wear but no cracks or repairs and has 2 cartouche inspector markings on the left side. Has a cross marking on the left side of the stock.Has an original 21” Rd barrel with original sights and original brass barrel band. Has an original brass buttplate .  The receiver has the Starr patent Sept 14th 1858 markings on the top tang and has the saddle ring on the left side of the receiver. . Many parts marked with the serial # including under the barrel Serial# 2104  Very Early carbine as they made 20601 total production. 1862 to 1865. The lockplate is marked Starr Arms Co Youkers NY.  Metal overall has a grey brown patina finish with some fine to light pitting in areas. Springfield Research has this carbine among the carbines issued to the 64 Co K  19th Penna Vol Cavalry. Shows them issued to several different states
