Description:
If you are a shooter who loves gorgeous wood, fine hand engraving and nice options on your vintage double gun, this Elsie is for you. This fine upland gun made by L.C. Smith, (Hunter Arms Co.), in 1924, S.N. FWE69827 is a very attractive and functional doublegun with finely figured European walnut with a fine hand rubbed oil finish, excellent checkering, superb wood-to-metal fit, richly rust blued barrels, 90% factory trigger guard blue, and 30% of the factory case colors still showing though faded thin. The engraving is definitively better and more defined than later L.C. Smith Specialty Grade guns. This fine Specialty Grade 16 ga Elsie is one of only 720 ever built and only 118 had 26 inch barrels and only 74 had "Hunter One" triggers. This one weighs in at 6-3/4 pounds and balances perfect on the hinge pin. The ejectors are strong and well timed, the Hunter One trigger functions exactly as designed, it has excellent screws and bores, double ivory beads, barrels tight on the hinge pin and breech face with lever well right of center. The stock dimensions are very modern and the Hawkins pad is an original vintage pad and not a reproduction. This is an investment quality gun that will make a nice addition to your collection or a first class piece to use in pursuing your favorite upland game. Remember, every upland bird you harvest with a vintage double as such is considered a "Trophy".
