the "ONLY" caliber made exclusively for the model 71! The cartridge is great for North American big game hunting in brush where shorter shots are taken and with modern projectiles like the
Hornady Lever-evolution line; and can now perform well at long range too!
Winchester's Lever Action Cabine rifles made before 1964 have always been prized by shooters and collectors alike, and the Winchester Model 71 even moreso. With a production run that
lasted just 22 years, (a relatively short production life for a Winchester), with fewer than 50,000 rifles made!
