Description:
Original Smith & Wesson 45 Schofield 1st Model 45 revolver from 1875
7" barrel has an unusually nice bore and rifling: shiny, crisp, sharp lands and grooves from breech to about an inch from the muzzle. Then theres some corrosion roughness, getting heavier towards the muzzle, with visible bits of pitting in the last 1/2" or so.
Cylinder chambers are excellent.
Mechanically fine: tight hinge, good timing and lock-up, smooth action, crisp trigger, properly functioning ejector.
Matching numbers on components and one grip panel.
Grips are intact and fit the frame beautifully. Inspector mark on LH panel, and an unfortunate "star" on the right.
Trigger has been replaced with an aftermarket unit. The original trigger (chipped/short sear) is included with the revolver.
Finish is pretty much as seen in the pics: some original blue remaining, with scattered corrosion patches and lots of "patina."
