Description: 1943 Remington Rand 1911a1 pistol with a 5" barrel. This CMP Service Grade pistol underwent an arsenal rebuild and a gray parkerized refinish. The left side of the slide is marked "REMINGTON RAND INC. / SYRACUSE, N.Y. U.S.A.". The top of the frame is marked "G" at the disconnector. The left of the frame below the magazine release and the top of the slide in front of the rear sight are marked with a "P" acceptance proof. The left side of the frame above the magazine release is marked "FJA" (Colonel Frank J. Atwood, Sub-Inspector for Ithaca, Remington Rand, and Union Switch & Signal). The right side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY / NO. 1287603", and at the rear there is a fine Ordnance mark. Above the right side trigger guard is marked "ANAD / flaming bomb / 773 / FK / RIA" indicates that the pistol underwent an arsenal rebuild at the Anniston Army Depot. The barrel is marked "NP" on the left link-lug, "M" on the right for a modern surplus barrel. The mainspring housing is arched with lanyard loop. The front sight is a short blade fixed to the slide with a serrated, ramped rear face. The rear sight is a square notch dovetailed into the slide. The grips are checkered brown plastic Keyes Fibre panels with reinforcement rings around the screws and reinforcement ribs on the inside. The screw heads are sharp with strong slots. The magazine marked on the bottom plate "19200- / ASSY 5506694 / MFR 1M291" produced by Check-Mate Industries for the Govt. Comes with the CMP hard case, certificate from the CMP, manual, and cable lock. Metal Condition: "Very nice arsenal rebuild with a gray parkerized finish. It does show a few marks and scuffs in the finish, nothing major. It also looks like the surfaces are free of any corrosion or pitting marks. Wood Condition: The right plastic grip is in great condition with some minor scuffs and the right shows minor hand wear on the checkering. Bore Condition: Very good bright bore with strong rifling.
