Description:
"NSN, circa 1808-1812, .69 caliber, 42"" round barrel. Barrel and iron parts are a dark brown patina with a faint ""N"" in scroll on the lock plate. Stock shows usage and handling wear with nicks, dings and gouges noted. Musket started its life off as Whitney N.Y. contract Pre-1812 late production musket before being altered to the Ward Tape Primed Conversion. Patent dates are marked on the hammer. New York contracted for 1200 in 1857 with less than 300 being delivered.
