Curry Retailer Marked Slotter & Company Half Stock Percussion Rifle made circa the 1860s in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Slotter & Company was a Philadelphia manufacturer formed by the Schlotterbeck brothers, former employees of Henry Deringer, and manufactured Deringer style pistols, "plains rifles," and other firearms in Philadelphia from 1860 until 1871 and was known for supplying guns for the western arms dealers, especially for the California dealers, including famed retailer C. Curry in San Franscisco, California between the years of 1860 and 1871. Charles Curry became famous for being one of just fifteen authorized agents for Henry Deringer selling his famous pocket pistols. Born in Ireland, Charles Curry sold arms in San Francisco from 1852 until his death in 1863, becoming the sole West Coast agent for Deringer in 1858, a position he left to his sons, Nathaniel and John.
