Description:
Like New-Pre ban 1992 H&K SP 89 chambered in 9mm Para. Features a 4.5" barrel with the classic roller lock blow back delay. Original 15 shot magazine, Adjustable aperture rear sight. this gun appears to be un-fired. No signs of fouling or powder residue on the bolt or internals. These are great host guns and a good number of them have been converted. Leaving this a very rare excellent example! A great addition to your collection.
The SP89 was HK's first attempt to build and sell a civilian version of the MP5K. Released in 1989, at a time when the political climate in the US was growing increasingly hostile to firearms with "military" appearance, the SP89 was imported until late 1993. About 15,000 arrived in the US before importation was halted by an Aug 1993 memo from the President to the Secretary of Treasury (then parent agency of the BATF). The gun’s demise was further cemented when in Nov 1993 the Federal Assault Weapons Ban passed in both the House and Senate, then signed into law in Sep 1994.
