This is a RARE Smith and Wesson .44 Hand Ejector First Model Triple-Lock that is chambered in .44 S&W Special.
The .44 Hand Ejector First Model Triple-Lock (.44 New Century Triple Lock) was made from 1908-1915. It acquired its nickname of "Triple Lock" as a result of the locking system at the front of the cylinder with the center pin, rear of the cylinder by locking bolt, and yoke locked at frame with special locking bolt. Only 15,376 of these revolvers were made making this a RARE revolver.
The factory letter states the revolver was shipped from the factory on December 3rd, 1913 and delivered to M.W. Robinson Co., New York City, NY, Smith & Wesson's oldest distributor. The features of the revolver described in the letter match the revolver itself. The serial number "7401" is on the frame on the extractor rod cut, butt, and the rear of the cylinder.
The pinned barrel is 6.5 inches long with a bore that is in excellent condition.
It is a square butt, N frame, and five screw 6-shot double and single action revolver.
It has a six shot fluted cylinder with a checkered cylinder release.
The left side of the barrel is marked "44 S.&W. SPECIAL CTG".
It has a shrouded ejector rod.
The timing and lock up are perfect based on visual inspection.
The blue finish is in excellent condition with only minor imperfections.
It has a case color checkered hammer and smooth trigger.
It has a forged round blade fixed front sight and an integral u-notch fixed rear sight.
The top strap is grooved to reduce glare.
It has 2-piece brown diamond checkered walnut grips with gold S&W emblems.
The underside of the grips are unmarked. The grips are in great shape.
The back strap and front strap are smooth.
A beautiful glass wood presentation case with blue felt lining is included.
It has the S&W emblem and the words "Smith & Wesson" etched on it.
The S&W factory letter is included with this revolver.
This revolver qualifies as a curio and relic and can ship where legally allowed.
This revolver would make a great addition to any firearms collection.
