Notes: Made in 1927, this beautiful Colt SAA revolver retains 95 percent of its original finish. All of the rolled lettering retains its sharp edges, so this gun has not been reblued. It has just the start of holster wear, and the color case hardening is fading in spots, but is mostly there.
The grips are black plastic (rubber?) and have no cracks, checks or scratches There is rampant colt on both sides which are both in perfect condition, with the horses eyes fully visible and the hair in its tail showing all of the original detail.
The trigger, frame and hammer are color case hardened, with the rear sight a notch in front of the hammer. There are no marks on these pieces, no scratches, dings or mars of any kind. The left side of the frame, below the cylinder bears 2 lines of patent dates and the rampant colt insignia. The edges of the lettering and the colt are crisp and clean. On the underside of the frame, in front of the trigger guard is the serial number: 350888.
The trigger guard is blued and shows just the very beginnings of wear on the sharper corners. Like the rest of the gun, it is in great condition with no marks and very little wear.
The barrel is 4 ½ inches and is blued. There is just the beginnings of muzzle wear, otherwise, it's in perfect condition. On the top, just in front of the frame, is roll stamped “Colt's Pt F. A. MFG Co,” with the small “o” underlined. Below that is “Hartford CT. U.S.A.” The ejector knob has the football shaped recesses. Other than a small amount of holster wear, the Ejector shroud is in prefect condition. The bore is in fantastic condition, smooth, shiny and very well defined rifling with crisp sharp corners.
The cylinder has the typical but very faint bolt rub mark and holster wear in the corners of the flutes. Internally, the chambers are perfect.
This would be a great addition to any SAA collection.
