Serial Number: 131951 Action: Single action revolver Caliber/gauge: .45 Colt BBL Length: 7 1/2 Bore: Shiny and smooth. Well defined rifling. Sights: standard Colt factory LOP: Finish: Barrel and grip frame, Blue. Receiver, Case color hardnened Percent of Finish: 95 Notes: This gorgeous Colt SAA was made in 1890, so it's an antique and can be shipped directly to you. This is a military model with US stamped on the left side, and R.A.C stamped in several places. The bluing is in really nice condition, with holster wear just starting around the muzzle. There are a couple of nicks towards the muzzle on the left side of the barrel, and the bluing is wearing thin on a section of the ejector shroud. The ejector knob has the football shaped cutouts and is in perfect condition. On the top of the barrel, just in front of the frame is a single line of roll stamped words: Colt's Pt. F. A. Manufacturing Co. Hartford CT. U.S.A.---. The small o in Co. is underlined. On the bottom of the barrel, just in front of the cylinder pin is R.A.C and a perpendicular P . The lettering on this Colt is sharp and clean, and there are no refurbish markings on it, so it has not been reblued! The frame is color case hardened and the color is flawless! On the left side the patent dates are stamped and just aft of those U.S is stamped. It has three lines of patent dates. Of the three screws on the left side of the frame, 2 are starting to show wear on the crowns....the bluing on the third is complete! On the bottom of the frame, in front of the trigger guard the serial number is stamped: 131951. It is repeated just aft of that on the trigger guard. The cylinder rod shows evidence of being pulled with pliers but the retaining screw is in good shape. The bluing on the cylinder is wearing thin on the front and rear edges, and, of course, there is the lockup bolt rub mark. This is normal with use. The number 1851 (last four of the serial number) is stamped on the rear side of the cylinder. The ratchet is clean with surprisingly little wear. The front of the cylinder shows very little erosion and the rear shows no wear from the rims of the cartridges. The chambers are clean and still show most of the bluing. The grip frame is blued and bears the serial number in front of the trigger guard. The bluing is complete and in fine condition. There is just the beginning of freckling on the bottom of the grips, where the numbers 131 over 951 are stamped. The bluing on the backstrap is thinning and shows some use. There is a K below the serial number. The grips are walnut and in good shape. There are a few minor nicks and scratches which one would expect on a gun that's 130 years old! On the left grip, just above the bottom is a cartouche with LEB (SEB?) in a box. Above that is the manufacture date of 1890. On the bottom of this grip are the letters R.A.C stamped into the wood in small letters. On the right grip is a second cartouche with R.A.C in a box. The cartridge gate is nicely colored and bears the assembly numbers 687. Beautiful gun!
