Ruger Blackhawk – 30 Carbine – 7.5" Barrel – 6 Shot – Likely 1974 Model
The Ruger New Model Blackhawk chambered in .30 Carbine is a robust single-action revolver that blends Old West styling with modern strength and precision. Introduced in the 1970s as part of Ruger’s line of large-frame Blackhawk revolvers, this model was designed to handle higher pressure cartridges with ease. Featuring a 6-shot fluted cylinder and strong steel construction, the Blackhawk in .30 Carbine provides an excellent combination of revolver durability with rifle-level ballistic performance, making it a favorite among handgun hunters and enthusiasts looking for something unique.
Our revolver wears serial number 51-03005. That serial number indicates likely production in 1974. It has a 7.5 inch barrel and smooth wood grips. The grips contain a Ruger medallion embedded in the grip and are in Very Good condition. The rear sight is fully adjustable and the front sight is a fixed ramp. At some point, someone has marked the front sight with a white substance to enhance target acquisition. See photo on that. The large-frame construction handles the recoil of the .30 Carbine round comfortably. The single action movement is very smooth and the trigger is light and pleasant, as expected. A transfer bar safety allows you to safely carry the revolver with all six chambers loaded. The revolver’s classic blued finish remains in very good condition, with the exception of some very light pitting on the left side of the barrel, near the muzzle. We’ve attempted to show that in a photo as well. The bore is good, the barrel is bright and the rifling is strong.
