Description:
Serial #1706, .22 LR, 24" octagon barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a 1932-made, "22 LONG R." marked rifle that has retained 95-97% of the original rust blue finish, that has thin silvering along the edges of the barrel facets, and some darker mottling on the correct, in-the-white muzzle. All of the markings are crisp and clear, and the Winchester proofs both have a gray-bordered "burnished" appearance from stamping after finish. The rifle has the correct 11-groove walnut slide that is in fine-excellent condition with minimal handling marks or blemishes marring the excellent original finish. The pistol-gripped buttstock has some attractive feathered grain along the either side of the comb, again with only a few very minor handling marks in the original varnish. The checkered steel buttplate has grayed around the edge, and has about 80% of the original blue remaining. The rifle is mechanically excellent, and is housed in a plain modern two-piece cardboard box with inkjet facsimile Winchester labels on the top and one end of the lid. Also included are a period original Winchester red and yellow product catalog booklet, period original "The ACE" Model 61 pamphlet, and a modern reprint of the pre-1939 Model 61 instruction pamphlet on heavy card stock. This is a splendid example of a first year of production Model 61, in a desirable caliber and configuration, and rates excellent condition overall. FFL or C&R;
