Schmelzer & Sons Arms Company, Kansas City, Missouri, with 6 other guns on March 2, 1907. It is a 4.75” in .32 WCF (.32-20 caliber), blue and case, with Colt letter. It is almost a no finish gun barrel, cylinder and ejector rod casing turning to patina with very even, shallow pitting on the cylinder and slightly deeper on the left side of the barrel. Numbers match and the bore is very good with very shallow frosting throughout – about a 7 out of 10. The action has all four clicks and four notches, with a little sloppy lock up (probably could use a new bolt). The holster is a simple modified pocket type, made by I. J. Abelman, Beaumont, Texas. Israel Jake Abelman (9/15/1881, Warsaw, Poland, to 7/30/1963) came into Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas in 1901 after the discovery of oil, and opened Abelman’s Saddlery Store to provide Jefferson County’s horses with the finest factory-made saddles, harnesses, lines and reins. He later added automobiles to the dealership, suspecting the motor car would eventually replace the horse. He was mostly right!
